In the cabinet meeting held on Wednesday under the chairmanship of PM Modi, it has been decided to give three months and free LPG LPG cylinders to the Ujjwala beneficiaries. This announcement of the government will benefit 8 crore families of the country.
Giving information about the decision of the cabinet, the cabinet minister Prakash Javadekar said that the beneficiaries of the Ujjwala scheme will continue to get the benefit of free LPG cylinder from July 1, 2020 for the next three months. The objective of Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana (PMGKY) is to bring the poor and helpless people under the protection and help in the era of this epidemic.
Who will benefit from the Ujjwala scheme?
Under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, the Central Government provides domestic kitchen gas or LPG connection for the families living below the poverty line. The scheme is being run in collaboration with the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas. According to the 2011 census, the BPL families who are in it can get the benefit of the Ujjwala scheme. If a consumer opts for EMI, the EMI amount is adjusted against the subsidy on the cylinder.
