Given the prevailing situation of Kovid 19 in the state, the state government has decided to distribute free foodgrains for the third time in a row. Free foodgrains will be distributed to 68.71 lakh ration card holders covered under NFSA for the third consecutive month in June. Under this decision, distribution of foodgrains in the state will start from June 15. In which distribution of wheat, rice, sugar and salt will start from more than 17 thousand government approved cheap food shops. Under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, 3.50 kg of wheat per person, 1.5 kg of rice and 1 kg of chickpeas per family will be provided free of cost in June.
Earlier, the state government had given NFSA Rs 68 lakh to families during the lockdown in April. 36.18 lakh quintals of foodgrains with a market value of Rs 802 crore and 36.18 lakh quintals of foodgrains were distributed free of cost in May. Now for the third consecutive month of June, free foodgrains will be distributed to more than 68 lakh NFSA families from June 15. Thus 36.87 lakh quintals of foodgrains will be distributed under the State Government and Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana.
